Collaring

The act of giving and accepting a collar to mark a committed D/s relationship, similar in meaning to a ring.

Collaring is a symbolic ceremony in which a dominant gives a collar to a submissive to mark their commitment, much as an engagement or wedding ring does in other relationships. A collar can signify different stages, from a consideration collar early on to a permanent collar for a lasting bond. The collar itself may be a literal piece of neckwear or a discreet item of jewellery. The meaning matters more than the object.
