Review guidelines

Honest, first-hand reviews help everyone make better decisions. These guidelines explain how reviews work on Venuva and what we expect from reviewers.

Who can leave a review?

Anyone with a free Venuva account can write a review. You choose a display name that appears on your reviews. Your real name and email address are never shown publicly, and are never shared with venue owners or other users.

What makes a good review?

  • Write about your own experience. Not what a friend told you, or what you read elsewhere.
  • Be specific. What made the atmosphere good? What did the staff do well or badly?
  • Keep it proportionate. A single bad experience on a busy night is different from a pattern.
  • Write at least 50 characters. Short, vague reviews are hard for anyone to act on.

What is not allowed?

  • Reviews that identify or target individuals by name.
  • Offensive, harassing or discriminatory language.
  • Reviews written by an owner about their own venue, or a competitor’s venue.
  • Multiple reviews from the same person for the same venue.
  • Private information: email addresses, phone numbers or personal details of any kind.
  • Promotional content or reviews written in exchange for payment, discounts or other incentives.
  • Content that includes website links or contact details.

How are reviews checked?

Every review is read by a member of our team before it goes live. We do not publish reviews automatically. If a review does not meet these guidelines it will be rejected, and we will tell you why.

Ratings and scores

The rating shown on a listing is the true average of all approved reviews. It is never adjusted, weighted or influenced by a venue’s account status. A venue cannot pay to improve its rating.

Reporting a review

If you believe a published review violates these guidelines, use the Report link on the review. Our team will look into it and take appropriate action.

Venue responses

Venues with a Pro account can post one public response to each review. Responses must be professional and factual. Responses that attack the reviewer or contain false information will be removed.
