Vanilla describes anything outside of kink: conventional sex, relationships without power exchange, or people who do not identify with the scene. It is not an insult, just a neutral way of distinguishing kinky from non-kinky. Someone might describe their day job as their vanilla life, or refer to a partner who is not into kink as vanilla. Many people enjoy a mix of both.
