Suspension is advanced rope work in which a person is partially or fully lifted off the floor by the rope. It is visually dramatic and intense, but it is also one of the highest risk forms of bondage, demanding real expertise in load bearing ties, anatomy and rigging hardware. It should only be attempted after substantial training and never improvised. Partial suspension, where some weight stays on the ground, is a common stepping stone.
